I think most little kids weigh themselves, from time to time, just for fun. Maybe their mother gives them a growth check once a month, or sometimes when they step out of the bath they hop on the scales, just because it's fun. Maybe their bathroom doesn't have any scales, but they weigh themselves at grandma's, because they like the feel of the cool cork mat, and the sight of numbers whizzing by. How long, I wonder, before the numbers start to really mean anything? Before they become a scope against which to measure yourself, a dreaded moment, a cross to bear?
